A guest lecture on “Monetization of Web” was organized in the department of mass communication on Jan 18.1.18. Mr Tarang Goel, advertising and IT professional who has worn different hats as an entrepreneur, consultant partner (Softtek Solutions) and associate director, Cognizant started his presentation by distinguishing between digital marketing, content marketing and mass communication.
Describing the term Content, Tarang explained why Content is said to be the King and added: “In the advertising space, Google has surpassed the leading advertising companies across the globe.” He then went on to cite affiliate marketing platforms such as Amazon and Google AdSense as among the first and the most talked about revenue models on the web. In publishing segment, he introduced the students to ebooks and specified how Kindle version of any book requires different packaging of content. The session concluded with the esteemed speaker asking the students to ride the wave and evolve rather than be restricted by the limitation of any of the media platforms.
